The TC-42X1 is probably the best bang for the buck big screen TV you can get your hands on today. It is for good reason one of the top selling TVs to date, it retails for $656 at Amazon. It features a 720p resolution and a native contrast ratio (none of that dynamic bs) of 30,000:1 and yes a 2,000,000:1 dynamic contrast..

As always with a Plasma TV you get a great viewing experience even if you are watching lower quality over the air broadcasts. Plasmas are simply more forgiving the their LCD counterparts.

Specifications:
720p Resolution
Contrast Ratio: 30,000:1 Native; Infinite Black Panel
720 Lines of Moving Picture Resolution
600Hz Sub-field Drive

Reviews:

“TV is awesome, right out of the box. It looks great, works great. Picture is top notch. I put in an HD-DVD version of Transformers and was amazed at the picture quality. This is my first plasma TV and I believe it is much better than LCD. I had a Samsung 4061F before, and this TV has better picture than that one, despite the Samsung being 1080P and this being 720P. There’s no motion blur whatsoever on this TV.” – Amazon

“While it does not have the new Viera Cast feature, or the new Neo 1080p plasma display panel it does have Panasonic’s excellent picture quality and black levels. I predict it will be a great seller with a smoking price. It’s available February of 2009 so we’ll soon see.” – Plasma TV Buying Guide

The Panasonic Viera is simply amazing. I like the remote layout. It produces good picture quality. I’m playing high quality component cords and the images are excellent. Everything looks good with HDMI and better than the 1080p. It has a perfect screen. It’s better to watch movies on it rather than going to the cinema.

I purchased the Panasonic Viera TC-P42X1 from Sears. I bought it for only $599 and it has been working perfectly (I had it for 2 months now) since. It has 3 HDMI inputs. Blu-Ray movies looked fantastic on it even at the 720P viewing. The video quality was much better than my old 46” TV. The only thing I was disappointed about this TV was that it has no VGA/PC connection.

The picture is nice. The 42 inch screen produces good quality and clear images. However, it has poor sound. When you tune in to high volume, the sound gets blurry and the voices are not clear. You can get a good sound if the receiver and speakers are separate. This means you have to purchase these devices separately and it will cost you more.

I bought this TV to use it in my bedroom. I wanted a TV that has large screen and can be hang on the wall. When I hooked it up to DishHD, I was amazed by its’ performance. This unit was exactly what I wanted for my bedroom. It has wonderful contrast and the picture was perfect. I adjusted the colors settings to: brightness +100, Constrast+55, Color +60, Tint 0, Sharpness +70 and I got the picture quality that I wanted. It was not a 1080p TV but it did great work. Afterall, I am not disappointed in this unit.

The TV was good but not that great. I had difficulty installing the TV. The picture quality wasn’t what I expected at all. You’ll have to adjust the picture settings to get good picture but even after that the picture wasn’t that amazing. The sound was not clear. There was some background noise. Overall, I wasn’t satisfied with it.
