The Panasonic Plasma P50X1 uses a 600Hz Sub-field drive technology to remove motion judder. With a great native contrast of 40,000:1 and a dynamic contrast of 2,000,000:1 it’s making a clear stand that the Plasma technology is very much alive and well. Some might complain on the resolution being only 1,366 x 768 but the only real reason to go for a real 1080p is if you are going to have it double as a computer monitor, otherwise the additional pixels are seldom really seen.

All in all this Plasma makes a really strong statement and delivers great quality at a very interesting price $1,099 (MSRP)

Reviews:

“Panasonic TC-P50X1 is a VIERA X1 Series 50” Plasma HDTV that brings high-quality viewing enjoyment to your home. With vivid colors from 6,144 steps of gradation and x.v. Colour, this plasma HDTV once again puts Panasonic ahead of the pack. Add the resolution of 720 lines with the 600Hz sub-field drive, no wonder it is THX display certified.” – Electronicsme

“There are no direct comparisons in the market place. And while we totally endorse the 720p concept if it saves us money on the purchase price, we cant endorse the cuts in quality that we find in this plasma model.” – Plasma TV Buying Guide

“Although it requires more than a few picture quality trade-offs, the Panasonic TC-P50X1 delivers the best black-levels-to-dollars ratio of any HDTV we’ve tested.” – CNET
